Generation 2: Chapter 9. Time to say goodbye

This chapter may convey a certain (negative) attitude towards homosexual love. I do not share that attitude, it just seemed like a big part of the story.

Once again, it was prom time! They grew up so fast… Daisy got ready and slipped into the dress she had bought a few weeks ago. It fitted her perfectly and matched her red hair. She wasn’t aware of the looks the boys gave her when she walked down the red carpet into the assembly hall, where the prom would take place. She DID notice the faces of the other girls who were there – full of hatred. All of them thought Daisy had gone there to steal their boyfriends from them. Little did they know that Daisy wasn’t there to impress a boy. During the few hours they had there, she danced a few times with Marilyn Schrott-Bunch, a girl from her music class. She couldn’t help but feel the chemistry between them. Was she falling in love with a girl? And what would the other students say? Although they were living in the 21st century, this was something they would gossip about for ages. Then again she couldn’t care less. If she was in love, then this was her business and Marilyn’s, but nobody else’s.

She knew that telling her mother about her feelings could cause some problems. In the last few months they had been getting on a little better – Brianna still was indifferent every now and then, but sometimes they had time to talk. But when Daisy went up to her and told her she fell for a girl, all hell broke loose. Brianna refused to accept that her daughter had feelings for another female. And although she knew that she had to accept it eventually, as her daughter was almost a grown-up, it wasn’t easy for her.

News travelled fast in school. Everyone had heard about the way Daisy had looked at Marilyn all evening and although nobody could really believe it, everybody talked about it. A brave boy from her chemistry class decided to talk to her about it – he wanted facts, not rumors. After they had chatted about school and music and stuff, he changed the subject and asked her if the rumors were true. Daisy confirmed them and also informed him that it was none of their business what she was doing and who she was doing it with. This was enough for the boy, he couldn’t stand being in the same room with a girl who liked girls.

Emma had a rough time at school, too. All day there had been people talking behind their back about what had happened at the prom – as both kinds of school were in the same building, there was no way this could not be the main topic during lunch. Emma didn’t know how to react. She loved her sister, so there was no way she could join the gossip or make fun of her. But she didn’t know how to defend herself, when the people started pointing her fingers at her and mumbled something like “that’s her sister”. So that evening she decided to ask Daisy what she was supposed to do. Daisy was really glad there was finally somebody who wasn’t making fun of her or dooming what she was doing! She told her not to worry, that the rumors would go away after a while. And that she shouldn’t listen while they were still there.

That night it was Daisy who put Emma into bed and read her a bedtime story. The two sisters loved each other more than anything in the world.

The next day was busy – right after school was finished, Daisy had to rush off to the animal doctor with Bello, who had slightly been hurt in a car collision earlier that day. Brianna was still asleep, so she couldn’t take care of it, which is why it was Daisy’s turn. Fortunately, Bello wasn’t seriously hurt and could come home that day. From now on, the two dogs weren’t allowed to leave the property on their own.

Party time! Brianna had done a lot of crossword puzzles lately and now got the reward – a holiday for her and Cella on an outlying farm for a couple of days. Daisy decided to take that chance and throw a party. It was a great opportunity to talk to the people from school outside classes and make some friends. Not with the people still talking about her, of course she didn’t invite those. So it was all set. The party was planned, the people were invited and the food was cooked (and partly burned). From the minute the first guests arrived, the party was a huge success! Daisy talked to many people and soon found out that not everybody was despising her for what she felt. That actually was coming from only a few people who managed to set everybody else on fire, too. Peer pressure. But tonight was not about them, but about making new friends and having fun.

And about cleaning up really fast when Daisy received a phone call from Cella that both adults already were on their way home! Something had happened that they decided to come home early. Daisy didn’t even have enough time to throw everybody out when the front door opened and her mother walked in. She was furious! Brianna couldn’t believe that her daughter had thrown a party in their absence. Cella was more relaxed about this – she had been in exactly the same position many years ago (remember?) and therefore knew what Daisy was thinking, why she was doing this. And why shouldn’t she? She was still young and supposed to have fun in her life. But Brianna didn’t see that, she just thought about Daisy disappointing her. Somebody like this couldn’t possibly be her heir and carry on the family tradition and the legacy. She would have a talk with Emma the next day and explain to her what was going to change in her life very soon.

Cella couldn’t stand the icy atmosphere in the house. For days, Brianna hadn’t been talking to her oldest daughter at all. And when Cella dared to bring this up in a discussion between her and her sister, Brianna shot her a look that could have killed her. Cella had chosen a side. And it was not her sister’s side. Spontaneously she made a call and changed her and Daisy’s life.

There was a little house available, not too far from school and the building Cella worked in. She and her niece would start a new life there, far away from Brianna and Emma, the new heir. Daisy wasn’t feeling too good about leaving her sister and the dogs alone, but it was the only way. Her mother didn’t want her anymore, she had to leave.

Soon her bed had been taken by somebody else – Brianna decided she wanted somebody new in the house. It was the last decision she would make as the leader of the family and the legacy and the last one made in this house. Everybody, meet Cookie.

Author's notes: Second generation FINISHED! The end was a little dramatic, I know, but Daisy really couldn't stay in that house. Which is why I made Brianna's last chapter mostly about her oldest daughter and only partly about her. We all knew who is going to be heir (Thanks again :-P ) and this was the right time for Cella and Daisy to go. You might like to hear that Cella and Daisy both found love only a few days after they had moved out! Cella is married already, Daisy is single again...
So, next chapter will be animals only. I might post that today! And then it is Emma's turn.

  3. Yes! I loved the drama!

So glad to hear that Cella is married now, and that Daisy has at least taken control of her life.

  4. Ooooh! Drama! Poor Daisy just never could get any sympathy or support from her mother. I'm glad that moving out has helped her find her way!

Can't wait for Emma's LTW... I can't help it, I'm totally looking forward to seeing her collect the animals.

  5. Yes, apparently that really helped her a lot. I don't know why Brianna didn't take care of her, it works with Emma now, so it's not really a lack of emotions or anything. Very strange. But it looks like she is going to be happy now :)
